Vinted Members Express Displeasure About Sizing Changes

Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to listings displaying inaccurate size information.

This online marketplace has altered its size classifications for women's and children's clothes but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.

Social Media Backlash

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping.

Vinted explained the new system was more in line with other platforms.

They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.

Size Classification Updates

Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Shopper Experiences

A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22.

"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizing for "all her products".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.

It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
